For example, if the total file of 2GB and you want three copies, each copy will not fit on one CD, and will always go up a Web server, however, use a DVD recorder, an external hard drive, or both. But if you need a backup of only 200 MB of data and you can live with two copies, the CD / online route can be better.

For most people, the DVD is backup means of choice. Prices of recordable DVD drives are falling, and DVDs store several times more data than CDs do. Moreover, writing DVDs are cheap and easily removable for security outside the site. Using the exchange can make DVD discs a couple of times, so you'll have to wait until the backup (at least initially). But the price of DVD backups is only 10 to 20 cents per gigabyte. For the data file that will not change much use, DVD ± R write once media (which are more reliable than RW).

If you're looking for faster backups that do not require you to stay close to the exchange of disks, try an external hard drive like Western Digital Media Center, which costs about $ 230 for the 250GB model (see Figure 2) or Maxtor OneTouch, a price of around $ 270 for the 300GB model. Beware, however: A single hard drive is too fragile and unreliable for you to have her as their only means of backup.

Backup strategies to win

Run the backup software and select the partition (for an image backup) or files and folders (for a file-level backup) to be protected. Do not overlook items such as email, address book and calendar. If you are not sure that these - and other program data - are stored on your system, open the application and locate the file storage configuration options.

Password protects and encrypts your data if you want to remain private. Give each backup a descriptive name like "Backup Richelle first birthday video 06 05 2005.bak." Use the utility function of the Committee to list the date and time of the backup, and anything that will help you discern its content in the future. Save space by compressing the backup, unless you plan to restore only the files using Windows Explorer.

Use the function to verify the application to confirm that all data is copied correctly - enough things can go bad after it started, without a bad backup. Make at least two copies. (Copy the first CD or DVD on a second disc may be faster than running the backup twice.)

Once you've completed the full backup of reference, can drastically reduce the time and space necessary to continue with any differential backups that include all data that has changed from a backup copy or copies of incremental security, which include only data that has changed since the last backup of any kind (full, differential or incremental). Incremental backups are quick and require relatively little storage space, but re-create the archives of those backups is to restore each of these backups in order. Finally, although you should never overwrite the original reference, and can be overwritten after differential and incremental backups to make new full backups that contain the same data.

Iraq boy cracks 300 years maths puzzle

A 16-year-old Iraqi immigrant living in Sweden who has cracked maths puzzle stumped experts who have more than 300 years, Swedish media reported on Thursday.

Only in four months, Mohamed Altoumaimi have found formula to simplify and explain what is called the Bernoulli numbers, a sequence of calculations named after 17th century Swiss Jacob Bernoulli mathematics, said the daily Dagens Nyheter.

Altoumaimi, who came to Sweden six years ago, "said a teacher in secondary school in Falun, central Sweden are not sure about his work first.

"When I first show to my teachers, none of them think I have written the formula really works," Altoumaimi to Falu Kuriren newspaper.

He then got in touch with a professor at the University of Uppsala, Sweden from one of the top institutions, to ask them to check his work.

After going through the notebooks, the professor found his work is indeed true, and that he places in Uppsala.

But now, Altoumaimi concentrate on school studies and plan to take summer classes advanced physics and mathematics this year.

"I want to become a researcher in mathematics or physics, I really like the subject. But I have to improve in English and social sciences," he told Falu Kuriren.

Credit score is a system creditors use to help determine whether to provide credit. This can also be used to help you determine the terms and conditions offered or the rate you will pay the loan.

When you apply for a car loan or mortgage, the loan will ask for credit reports from credit reporting company. This is usually a local or regional company. This company is interesting electronic credit reporting. Usually derived from one or more of the repository, but can come from various sources.

Along with the information, the local credit reporting company receives a numeric score called a credit score. Score is a mix of borrower credit history, employment, ability to save, and so forth. The most popular score is known as a FICO score, which is a model developed by Fair Isaac Company-a few years ago.

Fair, Isaac and Co. is the San Rafael, California Company founded in 1956 by Bill Fair and Earl Isaac. They pioneered the field of credit scoring for financial companies. It's important to mention that lenders usually use a combination of your credit score with other factors when determining your risk. While there is no single number universally used by financial institutions, data on late payments indicates that people with FICO scores below 700 have a significantly higher rate of making late payments. For that reason lenders tend to charge people with scores lower then 700, higher interest rates and fees on their loans. How much more?, take a look at the cost of bad credit.

All lenders have the same objective, to determine the borrower’s potential risk. Regardless of whether the score was generated by FICO or a system based on FICO parameters, they all yield an industry standard three-digit score. This score places the borrower in one of three main categories.

Prime and Sub-Prime or Worse

Prime - If your credit score is above 680, you are considered a "prime borrower" and will have no problem getting a good interest rate on your home loan, car loan, or credit card.

Sub-Prime - If your credit score is below 680, you are considered a "sub prime borrower”, and will likely pay a higher interest rate on your loan.

Worse - If your credit score is below 560, you can still get a credit card but you will likely be hit with a security deposit or high acquisition fee. In addition to that your interest rate will likely be 22 to 23%. You can forget about most home loans and the majority of new car loans at this score.

Below 560 is no place to be. You will pay much, much more in higher interest and unnecessary fees. You may even pay more for your insurance rates. A very low score can even prevent you from getting a job with many companies.

Not much has changed in the intervening years. In fact, email messages that are not generally encrypted in any way. In fact, I never receive email I have been encrypted and sent only a few in the whole of life.

Just so you fully understand a normal email message that is not the same as sending a letter via regular mail. In this case, you write your notes on the piece of paper insert in envelope and drop into the mailbox. As far as email is concerned, a better analogy is from a postcard. Your messages are "written" on a postcard electronic equivalent.

What does this mean to you? Anyone can see your message.

Let's see the process to describe how and when an email message can be read by other people.

1) You write your email using the email client. Clients can create the email as a text file in a temporary folder on your hard drive. If you see someone's hard drive you can find the email. And there is not better if you use web-based email clients such as Hotmail. This leaves the files in the Temporary Internet Folder, which can easily be recovered. Remember that at the time you read your emails in the workplace ...

2) type in your email address to an email sent. You can accidentally typed the wrong address. Not to mention, if you have the distribution or mailing list, you can accidentally in one of the types, which can cause an email accidentally sent to the wrong person or people. Review: GiK Tri-Trap Bass Trap

The GiK Tri-Traps will improve the sound in your room. They will. It doesn’t matter the speaker or the amp. The DVD player or the processor. The Tri-Traps will help curb your bass problems. Are they a panacea? Will the fix everything? No, of course not. But ask any acoustical expert and you’ll find that corner bass trapping is high up on their list of “first steps to a better sounding room.”

Build Quality
The GiK Tri-Traps are, as you might expect, triangular. They are also shipped in large boxes of two. You must buy them in pairs so their quoted price of $129 each is a little misleading. From a shipping standpoint, this makes a lot of sense as there are a lot more rectangular boxes than there are triangular. For all I know, the shipping companies might charge extra for an oddly shaped box like that. Regardless, I ordered six tri-traps for my room, all in black. They arrived in three large boxes. Each was wrapped in a thin plastic bag and tightly packed. There was no protection other than the box and bag though they didn’t really need it. The boxes (and traps) were quite light and arrived without damage.

I ordered six traps because I was in the middle of the Auralex Room Analysis Plus review and their suggestion was additional trapping in all the corners. Well, I felt this was an excellent opportunity to review a product I’d long been intrigued by - the Tri-Traps. The triangular traps are meant to be placed in the corners of a room and are filled with insulation. The Auralex analysis said that I could use as much bass trapping as possible. Well, six was the most I could accommodate at the time - I could probably get four more in here now. Two stacked on top of each other placed in the back corners and two lying on the floor behind the couch. I was a bit concerned about one thing, however, the height.

According to the GiK website, the Tri-Traps are four feet tall. My room is technically 8 feet high so they should fit but if you factor in the popcorn ceiling and medium pile carpet, it is a bit less than that. I didn’t want to get them in just to find out they wouldn’t fit. So, like I often do, I called them and asked about custom sizes not telling them I was a reviewer. I do this so I get the real deal and not some wink-wink-nudge-nudge thing. For a custom size, it is a $25 premium for the first trap and $15 each for every other trap of the same size. This, of course, is for a trap that is smaller than normal. You can’t ask for a custom 7.5 foot trap. Those charges seem just fine to me and perfectly reasonable. I especially like the fact that they charge less for the additional traps of the same size. In reality, the first one tacks on most of the extra work with the additionals not really adding that much. It smacks of business ethics that GiK is recognizing that in their pricing.

Amazon's Bigger Kindle

The Kindle DX may be better suited to reading textbooks and newspapers, but is it just too big?

Today, Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos unveiled the Kindle DX, a larger version of the company's flagship e-reader, with dimensions better suited to reading textbooks, newspapers, and PDF documents.

The Kindle DX was launched on the campus of Pace University, in New York City, just three months after Amazon announced the Kindle 2--an improved version of the original device. While experts agree that the Kindle DX, which comes with a 25-centimeter screen, is well designed and promising, some still question how successfully it will replace paper and ink.

To coincide with the launch of the Kindle DX, Amazon announced partnerships with several universities and newspapers. The newspapers involved are no doubt hoping to see electronic readers help revive their business models, which have been weakened by falling circulation figures, lower online advertising rates, and increased competition from the Web. The New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Boston Globe will start pilot marketing programs in the summer, offering readers a cheaper device for a subscription commitment.

At the event, Arthur Sulzberger, chairman of the New York Times, said that the Kindle DX now provides an e-reader experience that is as satisfying as that of reading print. But Sulzberger said that the New York Times and the Boston Globe would only offer reduced subscription rates for DX readers in areas where home delivery is not available.

Six higher-learning institutions will also start Kindle pilot programs this fall: Arizona State University, Case Western University, Pace University, Princeton University, Reed College, and the University of Virginia. Barbara Snyder, president of Case Western, says that her university plans to select a group of 40 students to use the Kindle DX and will compare their performance with that of students in the same classes who don't use the Kindle. "If it helps learning, we're certainly interested in going forward," Snyder says.

At today's launch event, Bezos said that Amazon's newest Kindle is meant to maintain the momentum built up by the previous two devices. For titles that come in Kindle format, he said that Kindle sales now make up 35 percent of Amazon's total for each--up from 13 percent in February, when the Kindle 2 was announced.

DVDs Still Beating Blu-ray, Downloads Among Consumers

DVDs continue to be the dominant entertainment media among consumers, with 63 percent of consumer spending going to the format.

That’s according to the NPD Group’s ”Entertainment Trends in America” March update, which finds that the average U.S. home spends $25 per month on home video purchases and rentals.

After the 63 percent for DVDs, 18 percent if spent on DVD/Blu-ray rentals, 7 percent on Blu-ray purchases, 9 percent for video-on-demand and only 3 percent for digital downloads and streaming.

(Of course, many streaming sites, like Hulu, do not require a purchase, which may affect these results.)

“Discs are still and by far the dominant way Americans enjoy home video, but there is an increasing appetite for digital options,” says Russ Crupnick, entertainment industry analyst for NPD.

“The good news is that the consumers engaging with digital video today also tend to be heavy consumers of DVDs and Blu-ray Disc, but it remains to be seen just how long physical discs and digital formats can co-exist.”

While they still have a while to go to catch up with physical media, digital options have increased. The number of Internet consumers who watched a streamed movie in the past three months increased to 9 percent, up from 5 percent last year.

The number who rented a digital media jumped from 4 percent to 8 percent in the same time period, while less than 5 percent watch a movie downloaded from a videogame console.

“While many in the home video industry worry that digital consumers might walk away from packaged media, that hasn’t happened yet,” says Crupnick.

Wearable Sensors Watch Workers

Sensors that track social behavior highlight the benefits of face-to-face interaction.

Office workers who make time to chat face to face with colleagues may be far more productive than those who rely on e-mail, the phone, or Facebook, suggests a study carried out by researchers at MIT and New York University.

The researchers outfitted workers in a Rhode Island call center with a wearable sensor pack that records details of social interactions. They discovered that those employees who had in-person conversations with coworkers throughout the day also tended to be more productive.

The results aren't yet published, but they support research published last December by the same team. This study showed that employees at an IT company who completed tasks within a tight-knit group that communicated face to face were about 30 percent more productive than those who did not communicate in a face-to-face network.

"The big idea is that what you do on your coffee break and over lunch really matters for productivity," says Sandy Pentland, a professor at MIT's Media Lab, who led the study. "Face-to-face networks matter, and the implications are huge."

Many managers probably suspect a link between personal communication and productivity, says Pentland. Conventional wisdom suggests that face-to-face conversations are a useful way to create and maintain strong social networks, which could help workers solve complex customer problems or complete more calls at the center, he says.

However, some managers are slow to implement policies that foster this sort of communication because the connection has been difficult to prove with hard data, says Pentland. Usually, he says, workplace socializing is recorded using participant surveys, which tend to be filled with errors, since it can be difficult to remember the details of social interactions.

"There's all this knowledge that you see in anthropology and sociology [studies] that doesn't make it into management because it's sort of soft data," says Pentland. "But now we can tell which sort of folk wisdom is true . . . We can put some numbers on the table."

Pentland's study used a sociometer, a device about the size of a deck of cards, which participants wear around their necks as they would an identification badge. Each sociometer contains an accelerometer to measure their movement; a microphone that picks up their speech characteristics, such as intonation and cadence; a Bluetooth radio to detect other people wearing sociometers nearby; and an infrared sensor that can detect face-to-face interactions. Worn all day, the sociometers log workers' activity and conversations.

Bluetooth 3.0 released for 8x faster
